Documenting a Day: Jossi's Day
Jossi's Day
In this assignment, the software applications applied were from the Microsoft Office 365 bundle. The purpose of this assignment and using the various applications is to determine what is the best application for each task. For example, the best application is Microsoft Word to write a journal or document. For calculating time spent on activities, I used Microsoft Excel. Lastly, the best application to demonstrate a presentation is using Microsoft PowerPoint. I will compare Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and the benefits of using one versus the other depending on the task.
The functions of Microsoft Word are meant primarily for documents. The ideal application for writing journals, essays, and research papers is a word processor such as Microsoft Word. The advantage of this application is that it has the necessary tools to document papers. If a user needs to draft an essay, a spreadsheet or presentation application will not be appropriate as these will not allow for a proper visual outcome.
Microsoft Excel was great for calculating the activities of my daily routine. However, I would not use spreadsheets for documenting journals or essays. The advantage that Excel has is that you can calculate and organize data. You can also use Excel for large data analysis. Organized data makes it easier to read and helps to make better data-focused decisions. With the use of rows and columns, it makes reading the data simpler. However, when printing Excel spreadsheets, a disadvantage is that there are more times when modification is needed prior to printing to ensure it remains on one page or how many columns and rows will be printed on one sheet. Microsoft PowerPoint is my favorite application from the Microsoft Office bundle. It is a presentation application. With the use of a slide deck, it makes it easier for me to convey my information with the addition of images and plain text. There is no need for long, extensive paragraphs because with bullet points, you can convey your message clearly. The biggest advantage that it has over Word and Excel is that when it is shown in full-screen view, the reader can follow it more easily while still having a deep understanding of the topic. However, a disadvantage when comparing PowerPoint to Excel is that within PowerPoint, you can create data as easily as you can in Excel.
The application that was most appropriate for documenting my day was Microsoft Word. Word will also be beneficial for writing down notes during work, making a grocery list, or even creating instructions for students.
In conclusion, each application has its benefits and disadvantages. As discussed, Word is good for documenting daily experiences, Excel is great for documenting and organizing data, and PowerPoint is good for presentations. With the advancement of technology, these applications will continue to expand. Many of these applications have even expanded throughout the years, such as using Artificial intelligence in Word.
